Every day I go for a walk with my dog I see
this flower. A few people around my house have it in their gardens and I like
them. I am always thinking about writing about this flower. Finally today is
the expecting day. This plant takes its names from de Greek name rainbow
because of the wide variety of flower colours of this specie.
There is a legend about irises:
The beautiful Iris was Taumas and Electra’s
daughter. Iris used to be the Gods messenger, but only about good news. To make
easier her task of going from the Olympus to the whole world, Hera changed Iris
to a seven coloured rainbow.
We talked about the rainbow name. Now we can
understand why.
Iris is the flower of the state of Tennessee, where
every year is the annual Iris Festival. There is a very famous artist who liked
iris very much. Do you know who painted this picture? Yes! Vincent Van Gogh. He
painted several famous pictures of irises.
The meaning: after reading the legend, I think
it’s very clear the meaning of this plant. Messenger and good news. Good
meaning for a beautiful flower.

Cada dia que vaig a
passejar amb la meva gossa veig aquesta flor. Molta gent prop de casa meva la
té als seus jardins i m’agrada. Sempre penso que vull escriure sobre ella. Ja
ha arribat el moment. Aquesta planta rep el nom del llatí iris, l’arc de sant
Martí degut a la seva varietat de colors dins l’espècie.
Hi ha una llegenda
que en parla:
La bella Iris,
filla de Tauma i Electra, deïtats alades. Iris era la missatgera dels déus,
però sempre portava bones notícies. Per fer-li la tasca més fàcil d’anar de l’Olimp
fins als llocs més llunyans del planeta, Hera va convertir a Iris en un arc de
Sant Martí de set colors.
Abans hem parlat
del nom que rebia en llatí, ara entenem una mica més el motiu.
L’iris és la flor
de l’estat de Tennessee on cada any es munta el festival anual de l’iris. També
hi ha un pintor molt famós que li agradava pintar iris. Sabeu qui va pintar
aquest quadre? Exacte! Vincent Van Gogh. Va pintar molts quadres on aquesta
planta era la protagonista.
El significat:
després de llegir aquesta llegenda, queda molt clar el significat d’aquesta
planta. Missatger, bones notícies. Bon significat per una planta amb uns colors
tan vistosos.
